I grew up around the Galveston Bay area and saw the Strand change from a Sailor's relief stop to one of the best attractions the area has to offer.
Allow at least two-three hours to visit the shops and try at least one of the restaurants. No trip is complete without sampling desserts at the Emporium.
A visit to Captain Bubby's is always fun, even if you leave with the sniffles from all the dust.
